Trump Sends Christmas Messages to China, Panama, Greenland, and Trudeau

Donald Trump recently shared a bold Christmas message on Truth Social, reiterating some of his long-standing political views. He touched on topics such as reclaiming control of the Panama Canal, integrating Canada as the 51st U.S. state, annexing Greenland, and criticizing President Joe Biden's decision to commute the death sentences of nearly 40 federal inmates.

“Merry Christmas to everyone, including the Chinese soldiers illegally operating the Panama Canal,” Trump began. He referenced the sacrifices made during the canal's construction over a century ago and criticized the U.S.'s financial obligations for its maintenance without significant influence.

Concerns about Chinese influence in the canal have been previously raised by Republican figures like Senator Marco Rubio and former Representative Matt Gaetz. Since 1997, Hong Kong-based Hutchison Ports PPC has managed key ports at both ends of the canal, with its contract extending another two decades. Panama also joined China's Belt and Road Initiative in 2017.

Trump announced Kevin Marino Cabrera, a Miami-Dade County commissioner, as his nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Panama, praising his understanding of Latin American politics.

In his address, Trump humorously referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as "Governor Justin Trudeau" and claimed that if Canada became the 51st U.S. state, citizens would see a 60% tax reduction, businesses would experience massive growth, and the country would benefit from unmatched military protection. He also suggested hockey legend Wayne Gretzky as Canada's next prime minister.

Trump extended his Christmas greetings to Greenland, emphasizing the island's strategic importance to U.S. national security and asserting that Greenlanders support an American presence. This came shortly after Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced a $1.5 billion investment to strengthen Arctic defense.

Domestically, Trump directed sharp criticism at what he called the "Radical Left Lunatics," accusing them of undermining the judicial system and unfairly targeting him and his supporters.

However, Trump refused to offer Christmas wishes to the 37 federal death row inmates whose sentences were commuted by Biden, condemning them for their violent crimes and declaring, “Go to hell!”

He ended his message with optimism, proclaiming, “We had the Greatest Election in the History of our Country,” and promised a renewed era of prosperity in just 26 days, closing with, “Merry Christmas!”
